DJI Unleashes the Avata 2 FPV Drone: Insanely Fast and Highly Versatile
The Avata 2, unlike many DJI drones is designed to give you the pleasure of flying and observing the landscape.
The new compact drone is not without its share of impressive photo and video capabilities, but it is what makes the user happy that they can fly and view the drone from the first person.
Avata 2 comes with goggles designed to maximize the drone’s cameras. The Avata 2 also has a longer battery life, is faster, and more stylish than its predecessor.
It offers all this and more, at a price that is lower than the original Avata.
The Avata 2 is a drone with excellent viewing and in-flight controls, but it also has improved shooting capabilities. The new DJI drone has a Type 1 1/1.3-inch 12-megapixel CMOS image sensor.
DJI claims that this new variant has a better dynamic range, and a superior low-light performance. These are both useful features for a drone camera.
The Avata 2 includes an improved ultra-wide lens with a 155 degree FOV, which is similar to a 12mm on a full-frame mirrorless camera.
The compact drone is capable of recording both HDR (High Dynamic Range) and SDR (4K resolution at 60fps), as well as slow motion video with 2.7K resolution at 100fps.
The 10-bit log video allows for a more flexible color grading process and post-production.
The Avata 2’s still photo capabilities aren’t as good as other DJI drones but it is adequate. The Avata 2’s 12MP camera is capable of shooting photos with shutter speeds ranging from 1/50s to 1/8000s, and has native ISOs of 100 to 25600.
The Avata 2 camera is built on a gimbal that offers 5 degrees more tilt than its predecessor.
The drone’s photo camera only produces JPEG pictures. This shouldn’t pose a problem for casual users or even professionals. This also saves space in the drone’s internal storage.
It’s a fact that many photo enthusiasts are reluctant to acknowledge, but RAW images can be a tedious chore, unless they are used for serious editing.
