Sony Unveils Compact New Wide Zoom FE 16-26mm f/2.8 Lens
The FE16-25mm f/2.8 G Lens for Full-Format Cameras is one of Sony’s latest lens announcements. It’s a companion to the brand’s recently announced FE24-50mm f/2.8 G.
The FE 16-25mm f/2.8 G has similar optical and physical characteristics to the 24-50mm, except that it offers a larger field of view.
The device is also compact, packed with controls, mechanically precise, and designed to deliver high-quality visuals.
If you are still unsure, FE (full-frame) lenses are not the same as Sony’s E-mount lenses. They are made for full-frame cameras, instead of APS-C, which E lenses are intended for.
You’d expect a lens that promises high optical quality and has a fast flange to be quite bulky. Sony has been pushing these boundaries thanks to the advances in mirrorless cameras.
This is evident in the new FE 16-25mm f/2.8 G. It is 409 grams or 14 ounces in weight and measures 2.9” by 3.6”/ 74.8 x 901.4 mm.
